Needing 2 female roles and 2 male roles, one major and one minor, for the student film of 'Rapunzel'
Needing 2 female roles and 2 male roles, one major and one minor, for the student film of 'Rapunzel, Rapunzel'. A student at RMIT University, on the second year of a Screen Production, is looking for actors and actresses for a student film this year.
Synopsis
----------
'Rapunzel, Rapunzel' is about a brother and sister named Marth and Rachel. Rachel was born with a mental disease, although it has never been found out what, due to their extremely religious mother keeping her locked away inside the house most of her life. Rachel believes she is Rapunzel, the lonely long-haired girl from a Grimm fairytale, who's only joy is the days that her brother Marth sneaks in through the bedroom window to give her company.
This routine is fine for both of them, until one day, Marth becomes suspicious that his mother may be hurting Rachel, and the story begins to play out like the fairytale that Rachel sees life to be.

Filming will be from the 11th to the 16th of September. Those who are interested in any of the following roles.
We are hoping to hold the auditions all through next week, though any later may be possible if someone is very interested in a role. A script will be emailed to anyone who shows interest, however the auditions will not necessarily involve a scene from the film.

Lead Male - Marth
Males, aged 18 to 28 from Victoria, Aus
Having been estranged from his family, the only way he can see his mentally ill sister, whom he loves quite dearly, is by climbing in her bedroom window. He has both the qualities of a fairytale prince that Rachel sees in him, but also problems with self confidence and social anxiety due to his awkward upbringing by his religious mother, and his father dying when he was in his early teens. He sees his sister as his own remaining family, and often plays along with her fairytale views.

Lead Female - Rachel/Rapunzel
Females, aged 10 to 19 from Victoria, Aus
We are looking for a girl anywhere between the ages above, most importantly with long blonde hair (or at least light-coloured hair). Rachel acts quite childish and lost most of the time. She sees the world through the eyes of a fairytale, and switches randomly between speaking quite formerly (like the people in the written works of the Brothers Grimm) and unintelligible, anxious babbling. Some study may be required by the actress into mental illness, but not incredibly so.

The Mother- Margaret
Females, aged 30 to 50 from Victoria, Aus
An extremely old-fashioned and religious woman. She used to have problems with drug abuse, which resulted in both her current religious standing and in Rachel's mental health. She sees it as God's punishment to her, and is ashamed to let the world see her daughter. After her husband died when Rachel was a little girl, she fell into depression. Her and Marth could never agree on anything, and this eventually lead her to estrange him from the family and not allow him to see his sister.

Supporting Role - Levi
Males, aged 18 to 28 from Victoria, Aus
Levi is a friend of Marths, whom he lives with along with their friend Katie. He does not appear too much in the film but his role is important as one in stark contrast to Marth. Where the other is softly spoken, he is loud and outgoing, the joker of the group. He loves to tease insistently on how Marth and Rachel are 'The Prince and Rapunzel'.
