Breeding in Captivity
Sometimes the loneliest place in the world is in bed next to the person you love.
Breeding in Captivity is a feature film whose script was developed using a unique collaborative approach with actors. Between December 2010 and May 2011 Writer/Director Lucien Simon and Co-Writer Nathan Spencer (the creative team behind the award-winning short film Stripped Bare) worked with nine actors on the creative development of a feature film script.
Over the last year the script has been polished, Producer Larelle Bossi has come on board, locations in Tasmania have been sourced and cast and crew have come on board.
We have two major roles that still need casting.
Wilfred (40-50, Male)
Kathy (25-30, Female)
Owen and Alice Hargreaves never forget they are married, but sometimes forget they are in love. Routine and responsibility, stalled careers and school fees, zumba and missionary sex have slowly beaten them into a caged submission and they are now both on the edge. In the wake of a neighbourhood tragedy Owen hits the road for what should be a routine work trip, leaving Alice at home to deal with the aftermath of what took place and the strangers who have moved in next door. Catapulted out of each others orbit and into a world of hedonism and depravity, the couple will be forced to confront the other and face the realisation that outside the cage what seemed like freedom may be their demise.
Payment will be deferred, however flights and accommodation will be provided.
Shooting dates are mid to late October. Both Actors will be required for two-days shoot (rehearsal to be negotiated).
Auditions will be taking place in Melbourne on August 18 and 19.
If you can’t make those dates and are still interested then contact the casting manager to see if other arrangements can be made.
If you are interested then please apply with your full CV, Head-shot and body-shot, links to showreel (if you have one)
Kathy moved to Tasmania just over a year ago to help her dying grandmother and to get over a relationship break-up with her long-term boyfriend. The relationship started to fracture after she got pregnant and had an abortion. It is a decision that she still is unresolved about. Recently her grandmother died and the sense of loss for the child has mingled with her grief for her grandmother. It is a feeling that she is yet to articulate.
