Jacob McDermott would be your average 16 year old, were it not for the undiagnosed depression he’s suffered for the last six months. His parents are too busy to notice that his off-kilter sleeping habits are anything other than ‘typical’ teenage behaviour, and his gradual sullenness anything more than an adolescent rite of passage.

For Jacob, escape is the only option- and when he skips school and runs into the extraverted, street-smart Nathalie, that’s exactly what he finds. The two form an unlikely friendship: for Nathalie, Jacob is an echo of her own emotional hurdles, and for Jacob, Nathalie is a distraction from the creeping sense of worthlessness that has dogged him for so long.

However, distractions are temporary, and Nathalie’s friendship is not enough to cure Jacob’s depression. When Nathalie bluntly attempts to encourage Jacob to seek professional help, it backfires almightily and sends Jacob on a suicidal mission.

With Jacob’s whole world now focused on him, he must fight against his depressive thoughts for his life and the help that he needs.

Film will be shot between the dates of the 8th to the 14th of October. Film is set to be filmed in the Gold Coast and Brisbane vicinity.

All minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Jacob is your average 16-year-old: he lives with his mother and father in an upper-middle class home in suburbia, attends private school where he excels academically, and gets on well with his teachers and peers. What sets Jacob apart from other 16 year olds is that for the past 6 months, depression has gradually commandeered Jacob’s mindset, causing him to lose interest, sleep, motivation and a sense of purpose in life.
