Attention actors! Stageplay - November 2012, Herald Theatre, Auckland

Casting complete. Applications are now closed.

We are currently looking to remount a play that was staged in November 2011 and are casing for a back-up team to cover lead roles. These are important roles and a fantastic opportunity to put yourself amongst our particular staging set-up. If you are uncertain of whether working live is for you please do not apply. The work requires 100% commitment, some brief video work is involved so flexibility and a can do attitude is tantamount.
Egos are not welcome. Everyone is important but the director(s) run this show. If you can handle that I look forward to hearing from you and arranging a time for you to run some lines. The successful applicants will definitely see an opportunity here, recognizing it is another story.
Background to previous and current work as well as contact details can be found upon application. All the best - Fast or last - apply now!

Payment details: to be negotiated

Nikita Kumar

Although this character is Indian we're not all that fussed that she has to be acted by an Indian given how hard it's been to find an Indian female to fill this role. It would help if you can look the part even better if you grasp/understand/live the culture

Females, aged 18 to 30 from Auckland, New Zealand

  • Minimum Acting experience: No previous acting experience
  • Languages spoken: English

Lagi Tasi

This role requires a lot of energy and the ability to go between emotional extremes. Someone who is good with accents and parodies would fare well in this role. The character is Samoan but ability and personality is more important than appearance. *If you can play basic guitar and sing in key (minimal aspect of the show but key) that could be your ace in the hole.

Males, aged 18 to 30 from Auckland, New Zealand

  • Minimum Acting experience: No previous acting experience
  • Languages spoken: English

Fetu Tasi

A natural cynic perhaps a little racist, Fetu is Samoan but very un-Samoan. Self-absorbed with a bad case of alpha male, Fetu has a chip on his shoulder that's stuck fast with super glue. The ideal candidate would be very athletic pass off the self-loving shmuck with ease but as always acting skills would help. This is live theatre!

Males, aged 18 to 30 from Auckland, New Zealand

  • Minimum Acting experience: No previous acting experience
  • Languages spoken: English

Rajesh Kumar

Rajesh Kumar aka DJ RAAXAS is Lagi's best friend and Nikita’s baby brother and as you'd expect not well liked by Fetu. Here is a young man with ambition and drive whose dreams don’t quite fit into that neat mould of health professional. He’d sooner be cutting vinyl than performing surgery. Can you beatbox? Can you dance? Do you know your 80s?… this could be the role for you.
