Casting complete. Applications are now closed.

Bristleface is a youth-orientated musical from the production team who successfully staged the plays ‘Mill Boys’ at the Collingwood Underground Theatre, and ‘Matilda’s Project’ at Ceres, Brunswick, in 2011.

Bristleface is a musical adaptation of the children’s book of the same name which revolves around the life of Jase, a homeless teenage boy and his ugly dog who are taken into a community in the Deep South, in the early 1900s.

While Jase rediscovers a sense of family in his new community, with the help of Bristleface his dog, he has to learn the painful lessons of letting go of the past.

The producers, Platypus Theatre and Dramazing Productions, are looking for young performers aged 12-18 to assume the lead roles of Jase, Lute Swank- the store owner who makes friends with him- and Petunia, Lute’s love interest, as well as a number of minor roles and ensemble positions.

Bristleface will be a highly energetic, two-hour production, with plenty of dialogue, singing and dancing required. The producers are looking for talented young performers who want to take on fun and challenging roles in a full-length play.

The production will be performed during the September holidays in 2012.

The producers have extensive experience in putting on theatrical productions and adhere to Equity standards for co-op productions.

Bristleface adheres to Equity's blind casting principles. All performers are welcome to audition for any roles regardless of gender or ethnicity.

We are keen to hear from you.

All minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
