| Adventurer, actor, and trying to be an all around COOL guy.
Being an actor is a lot like DROPPING your PANTS in front of a crowd of people … and hoping you remembered to put underwear on.
You’re exposing yourself to possible embarrassment - forgetting your lines and making a total fool of yourself.
In an acting text book, author John Regan suggests that people become actors for the same reason they like extreme sports. Both have similar challenges which produce an adrenaline rush and test one’s vulnerability.
I think he’s right. The adrenaline I’ve experienced as a skydiver is almost the same as walking onto a stage in front of a big audience or acting in front of a camera.
The rush can be a good thing, I think, if it’s used to allow the character you’re playing to jump into your body and become alive. Then there’s no need to be nervous … the person on stage isn’t YOU any longer. But, this works only if you intimately understand the guy you’re playing. | |

Dick has been with our company for two and a half years, and I can attest that he is a highly motivated and intelligent actor. Not only are his VO skills phenomenal, but the camera seems to like him as well. Judy McDonald, Artistic Director, Waterfront Playhouse Repertory Company
Melodrama affords a very different and sometimes difficult technique of acting. Dick adapted to the strict rules of melodrama and made his character very believable and audiences sympathetic to his character’s dilemma. Alfred Gnann, Director Sawdusters Theatre, Coquille, OR
I was amazed to see the nuanced performance he gave in PROOF. Much of it was inherent in the character he assumed – often the best kind of acting. Clara Radcliffe, Ph.D. Theatre Dept. SOCC
