Calling Brisbane comedy talent for auditions
Summary:
The Australian Comedy Network is pleased to announce interviews and auditions in Brisbane on May 17th, 2008 for people aged 18+ who are interested in pursuing a career in the entertainment industry. We are expanding our bank of actors, voice artists, stand up comedians, impressionists and writers giving newcomers experience in the highly competitive world of entertainment. No former experience is necessary to take part in the auditions; however you must register with Australian Comedy Network by 5pm Friday May 16th, 2008.
About Us:
Australian Comedy Network was formed via a licensing agreement with American Comedy Network, one of the world's leading radio services. American Comedy Network is owned by Jones Radio Networks, America's leading independent radio programming company.
Australian Comedy Network is now producing topical comedy in Australia and New Zealand and with production commencing in Brisbane during June 2008 we are looking for up and coming talent to launch their careers.
Australian Comedy Network have now locked in Brisbane as the hub of our operations for recording, writing and voice staff utilizing recording studios in Woolloongabba.
Who:
Writers: Prospective writers will be given a 30 minute writing exercise that focuses on the ability to find humour in general news stories, music and entertainment news as well as the ability to parody and satire celebrities. There will also be a number of short exercises in spontaneous writing.
Actors / Voice Artists: Voice artists and actors will be given 5 scripts to read and will be allowed a 10 minute warm up prior to voicing.
Stand Up Comedians: Stand Up Comedians will be required to undertake the 30 minute writing exercise and then will be given 5 minutes to perform a routine of their choice. This will be followed by a 5 minute improvisational piece.
Impressionists: Impressionists will be given a 5 minute segment to perform their preferred list of voices. Each participant will then be given 2 celebrities to perform on the spot.
