Comedy about the elderly and pokies and winning the Jackpot
I would like to introduce you to a student film created and directed by Emily Potts.
“Age shall not weary them” is a film set in your local Returned and Services League, starring Esther, the protagonist of the film, an elderly lady who routinely goes to her local RSL to play the pokies.
Bob, Jack, Shirley and Jeff are regulars to the machines as well taking part in witty banter throughout the film. Esther wins a Jackpot and all the attention and envy is directed towards the sweet old lady.
Her so-called friends turn on Esther and create a mission to steal her hefty cheque before she leaves the doors of the RSL. However, just before they get to Esther’s handbag the clock strikes six and the patriotic RSL members stop to recite The Ode, whilst Esther escapes.
The final shot is taken through the glass window on the back of the community bus revealing Jeff, Jack and Bob struggling to get down the steps of the RSL to chase after the money, all whilst Esther sweetly smiles on her way home.
