Casting complete: Applications now closed.

Extras required for the TV film 'Life's A Riot' Directed by Ian Mune on Monday August 25th.

'Life's A Riot' by Dean Parker

The film is set in the 1930s during the depression, and tells the story of Jim Edwards, the leader of the unemployed, through the eyes of his fourteen year old son James. Jim Edwards is beaten down by a police baton in front of a mass of unemployed outside the Auckland Town Hall — and in front of his son. The cry goes up: "They've killed Jim Edwards! They've killed Jim Edwards!" The marchers are incensed by the "killing" of their leader and rioting explodes along Queen St. Jim Edwards, is not killed and somehow crawls away alive escaping the police attack and is at large in the city, New Zealand's Most Wanted.

This is our story: the lead-up to the riot, the night of the riot and the hunt for Jim Edwards. Then the jailing of Jim Edwards. The final return to the home, the gab-gifted Messiah surrounded by boozy cronies and the despair of the wife and children that nothing was going to change.

This film will be directed by Ian Mune (What Becomes of The Broken Hearted). The D.O.P is Leon Narbey (Whale Rider, No.2) and the film is designed by Grant Major (The Lord of the Rings Oscar winner).

This will require 400 extras on Monday 25th of August for large crowd scenes, reenacting the large riot on Queen St. We primarily need slim caucasian men, but all will be considered.

Women willing to be dressed as men and have hair pinned up in a hat are welcome.

We will provide costumes and period haircuts for those who are prepared to have them. Those with the period haircuts will be closest to camera.

We require 400 people for five hours on Monday morning 25 August to be the mass marchers. We need also need to keep at least 150 for the remainder of the day to recreate the marchers scrambling from the Police.

Every volunteer Marcher will wear a hat and in the band of each hat will be a number. At the end of the "big" March and the action sequences surrounding it a number will be drawn out of a hat and a big prize presented. There will also be another prize draw at the end of the day for those that do stay on for the full day.

We will also need 50 extras the next day on the 26th of August. Again there will be prizes drawn at the end of the day.

Also - Sunday 7 September - we will need 30.

This will be a great opportunity to dress up and gain the experience of being on a large scale professional film set.

Please note: Applicants who can bring lots of skinny caucasian men with them much appreciated. Please do not apply if you're already with Fresh talent agency.

Please apply now to take part or for more information including your contact cellphone number.

Payment details: Unpaid, extras who are required all day will be catered for.
And a big prize to be won.
