OurStage is the only democratic competition where the fans decide who's best in emerging entertainment. That means fans have the real voice - because our patent-pending judging system eliminates cheaters. Artists get a fair shot. The bottom line is, if you're really the best, the fans will drive you to the top.
Artisists:

First, you upload your music or video and decide which competition to enter. Then, fans judge the work side by side with the work of others. Our unique judging capability (called Peer Relative Ranking, but don’t worry about that) makes sure that each piece is judged fairly by the real audience — no rigging, no cheating, no celebrity judges. At the end of each month, the top 10 in each channel go head-to-head in an SMS voting period to determine the winner.
OurStage is a brand new and exciting way for you to succeed as an artist. Our site is designed to leverage the power of the Internet to connect fans to emerging artists. You get exposure to new fans through our ranking and judging system. You can track fans with a fan club and comments. There is a monthly cash prize of $100 for the top entry in each channel and two $5,000 grand prizes; one for music and one for video. You may also get additional exposure and prizes through our partners, such as NEMO, CMJ, Noisepop, Paste, the DV Show and many others.
The competitions are monthly, so you have a new opportunity to win every month. You upload your work and enter contests. The fans log in and judge all of the work in every channel, driving the best up to the top in every channel. Our judging system gives every artist a fair shot, because it is a non-gameable system that makes sure fans are heard and cheaters can’t win. At the end of each month, the top 10 enter into our SMS text voting period — where the artist in each channel with the most SMS votes wins the $100 prize. There are two $5,000 grand prizes; one for the top SMS vote recipient in music and one for the top SMS vote recipient in video.
When you submit your work, you keep the full rights. You are giving OurStage non-exclusive rights to display and play your work.
Fan Voting:

To vote in the SMS voting stage, you need a cell phone with text-messaging capability and a provider who permits sending Premium Text Messages. The US carriers who currently allow this are Alltel, AT&T/Cingular, Dobson, T-Mobile, Sprint and Verizon. The type of text messaging we are using is called Premium text messaging because there is a charge. In this case, there is a fifty cents charge for each vote. The money goes into our prize pool for future contests. Many carriers offer unlimited text messaging to their users, but have a strict limit imposed on Premium Messaging to protect people from running up a huge unexpected bill. See your carrier for those limits. If you have reached/exceeded your carrier's Premium Text Message limit, you will get a message telling you this, and though you can continue to send messages, these will not be counted by us. If you are having problems voting or receiving an error message, make sure that you type the entry code correctly and the phone number correctly.
