Were you born to be wild? Top prize money up for grabs

Were you born to be wild? Does singing to a crowd make you feel like a natural woman - or maybe even a king of the road?
Maori Television’s live karaoke show Homai Te Pakipaki is back for a second series, and with top prize money up for grabs there’s plenty of incentive for both budding and seasoned show-stoppers to turn up and have a go.
Every week there’s a winner - the contestant who gets the most text votes in each heat wins $1,000. Those people then have the chance to win even more. Semi-finals on September 12 and 19 will filter out the top ten who will go into the Grand Final on September 26. The supreme overall champion will take away $10,000.
Anyone who thinks they have the talent - or even just lots of friends with mobile phones - should come to auditions, held every Friday evening from 5.00 PM at the station’s Newmarket studio. Wannabe contestants need to arrive dressed and ready to go - if selected they will perform live on the night at 8.30 PM.
Singers can be any shape, size or ethnicity, as long as they are over 16 - and know how to rock the whare.
“We’re on the look out for talent and passion, and a mix of ages and song genres,” says programme producer Erina Tamepo. “Costumes, effort and any other eye-catching devices are encouraged.”
