Title: KUN

Introduction:

This is an exciting and unique film project being produced in collaboration with York St John University. It will take the form of a short film, between 15 – 20 minutes in length. I would describe it as a highly stylized pre-historic coming-of-age hero’s journey. Filming will take place during late March and April and be filmed in different rural locations in and around North Yorkshire.

Film Synopsis:

The film is set 30, 000 years ago somewhere in Eurasia. Kun is a young man whose tribe has almost vanished due to starvation and competition with Neanderthals and other animals. Kun is not a good hunter but he is faced with the task of going out into the world, alone, to find something for his tribe to eat before they all perish.
After several days of fruitless hunting on the wastelands, Kun comes upon a forest where he finds three Neanderthal hunters gorging themselves on meat. Kun formulates a plan to wait until they are asleep and steal their food. However, he is caught and almost killed by the three brutes. Managing a narrow escape, Kun runs away and eventually collapses due to his wounds and starvation. Whilst unconscious he is visited by a vision of Mother Earth, who offers encouragement and hope. When Kun awakens he resolves to use the ancient rituals of his tribe to allow him to draw out his inner beast. After achieving this radical transformation Kun re-challenges the Neanderthals, whom he defeats, returning to his people a champion and a savior.

The role: Kaya - The tribal beauty

A young woman who represents the last chance for future procreation in a pre-historic tribe. The actress must be attractive with long hair. In terms of ethnicity I’m looking for a white actress, or an actress of mixed heritage with predominantly white features. She should be aged between 16 and 30, with youthful features.
