Jacques Lecoq training with teacher Pablo in Paris for one week
I began acting at the age of twelve at an after school club, where I discovered my passion and ability for the performance arts. I learnt the basics of acting through a variety of acting games, and by regularly performing in school plays.
I devoted my education to honing these skills; by studying Drama at GCSE level, for which I was awarded an A grade; and later by studying performing arts, film studies and media studies at A level.
It was then that I started to get really interested in film as well as theatre. For both my film studies and media courses I got to make movies. I found the process very enjoyable, and thrived on the challenges and opportunities to learn presented by working on both sides of the camera. I particularly feel that my time as a crew member has enhanced my acting ability, by further developing my understanding of working for the camera and taking direction.
After school I joined the Bristol Old Vic Youth Theatre, which I attend weekly. This has really improved my acting ability as I learn something new with every lesson, and grow in my range of acting.
I have worked a five day shoot as an extra on E4's 'Skins', which is a series set in my home town of Bristol.
Recently, I have worked for “Films at 59”, where I was a runner. This gave me further insight into the world of film, and I look forward to continuing my work and training to develop my knowledge of how films are made.
