Monica Sik Holm is originally from Norway, but she has been based in The UK since 2009. She is a versatile young professional, working as a singer, song writer, actress, pianist, composer, writer and producer.
After graduating from The Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts with a First Class Degree in Music Performing Arts, she went straight on to perform and create the role of “Kvekk” and be the lead singer in the musical “The Rock Frogs” – a role she is repeating this summer. She then appeared as “Snow White” in “Battle of the fairytales” at The Cockpit Theatre, before joining The Archer Street Show Team in Soho, London. She is also taking on various jobs as a session singer and pianist/vocalist, and has extensive experience from choral singing, singing in choirs since the age of 2, as well as performing in different session bands; including being the vocalist in a big band.
Whilst in training, she was performing in various one woman shows, concerts and show cases as well as playing Arlene in Baby The Musical at Unity Theatre.
She was also one of the Norwegian contestants in The World Championship of Performing Arts in Los Angeles in 2011, where she won The Industry Award, Gold in Vocal Self-Accompaniment Original Works and Silver in Vocal Self-Accompaniment Musical Theatre.
Monica is also the winner of Rotary’s Young Leadership Awards (2009), The National Youth Award from Lions Norway (2008), The Charity Award from Lions 104G (2008), The Dream Scholarship from Norwegian Lotteries (2007) and The Talent Award from The Culture Board/Ringerike Bank (2007). Monica also gained places to prestigious youth talent programmes as a teeanger; including The Talent Development Programme at The Norwegian Academy of Music as a singer and The Talent School in her county as a pianist, occupying one of only 10 places.
As a composer, Monica has composed, written and produced Bucuresti The Musical (Norwegian Tour/Paul McCartney Auditorium) and Angel Dust (Contemporary Urban Centre, Liverpool), and composed music for Clegg The Musical (LIPA) and Moments. She is currently working on a musical adaption of “The little matchstick girl” (Opening at The Prison in Norway, 2013), her one woman show “29 frogs” (Being presented at The Solo Festival, London, 2013) and the musical “Jog On” with book/lyrics by Stephanie Smith. Monica was also one of the finalists in Craig Barbour Awards for composition at Soho Theatre in 2012.
She is currently setting up M Crown Entertainment: A new production company working on the development of new musical theatre and more professional jobs for musical theatre practioners.
