Favourite genres
I have extensive performance experience in a wide range of styles such as rock, pop, soul, R&B, Motown and musical theatre. I have played with groups including bands, musical theatre pit bands, rhythm sections within a full orchestra, and have experience of studio recording. In particular, I am a skilled sight-reader. I am calm, flexible and professional, work well under pressure and can adapt to the differing stylistic and practical demands of any performance situation. In addition I have teaching experience and am competent in transcription.
My performance experience is underpinned by my academic qualifications. I have completed a Master Performance - Bass Guitar course at Guitar-X (ATCL). I studied Music at GCSE, and Music and Music Technology at A Level. I am also a qualified sound engineer/designer, having graduated with a BA (Hons) Popular Music and Record Production from Southampton Solent University. I am equally at home working in both studio and live situations. My experience as a sound engineer/designer provides me with an insight and understanding of the differing demands placed upon musicians and engineers.
