| Drumming is my life and passion. My constant endevour is to play for the music, never my own ego, and to share the experience of live perfomance with all those around me. | |

Steve first sat behind a kit at the age of 8 when his father brought home an old mongrel kit he'd been playing in a band with work colleagues. For Steve it was an epiphany! He then spent the next twelve years under the guidance of legendary Hampshire drum tutor Albert Cooper, and by 18, was teaching his own students. The Guildhall School of Music and Drama grades were completed by 1988 and Albert was no longer able to progress him. Steve then put his efforts into expanding his studio and theatre repertoire. Earning a name in the business for his fresh approach to kit work, and melodic time keeping, Steve worked in many musical arenas - theatre, studio, radio-jingles, corporate bands, and depping/recording/playing for many different artists, among them the BBC Concert Orchestra, The BBC Big Band, BBC Television, MTV, Summer Special (ITV), Me & My Girl, Grease, Elusive Dreams, Guy Brazil (Doubledge Music), The Paul Bouthwick Jazz Project, Barry Melton (Country Joe & The Fish), The Man Band, BBC Radio 2, The Omegas (Peterborough Music Festival), Vanessa Barrett (EMS Best Album), Tim Hensler (Oliver, Buddy, BBC), Robert Mitchell, Grease, Me & My Girl, Dave Hayward, Tammy Cline, Des O’Connor, Al Barrett, Alvy Ronson, Jonathon Ross, Lydia Barrett (Aspects of Love, Cats), and Mike Dunn, to name but a few. In 1994, Steve moved to Buckinghamshire to begin a permanent home teaching business, tutoring private students from ages 4 upward on both drum kit and snare drum, preparing and coaching them for graded exams, live work, session work, theatre and professional careers within the music industry He was lucky enough to find himself in demand by a wide variety of educational establishments from the Birmingham Conservatoire to Cleo Laine and Johnny Dankworth's Stables Theatre Workshops, and continues to play and teach today.
