My name is Vincent Oglesby.,, my Musical Introduction started in September of 1974 in Queens, New York.
I started playing Electric Bass/Piano (self-taught) and eventually made the transition to private instruction.
Through the years I’ve attended various Colleges studying Music.
My main influences (Musically) was my instructor.., Rael Wesley Grant and Jack Grassel.
The HIGHLIGHTS of my career would be my Stint playing with the former Miss Black America (1982) Violinist/Model Sonya Robinson..,for about a year and a half(1991-1993).
Appearing in the October 1988 issue of Guitar Player Magazine., “New Talent Section as well as the March 1994 Bass Player Magazine --- Indie City CD review.(For my Group--" Home by Five" )
Also performing with Chicago Flautist, Steve Flowers from 1994-1998 opening for artists such as Phyllis Hyman, Alex Bugnon, Roy Ayers,
Performing for the Michael Jordan foundation(Chicago), Comedian Bernie
Mac, Mayor Scott King(Gary Indiana).
I,ve played on many CDs and appeared on local Tv shows/cable stations
In Milwaukee, Wi.
I appeared on the Nationally released CD by Chicago Artist.. the late Barkin
Bill Smith., entitled “ Gotcha” on Delmark Records(1994)
In 1998 I relocated to Memphis,Tn were I’ve played with numerous artists,
Such as Mr Fred Ford, Honeymoon Gardner, Herman Green, Melvin Rodgers Big Band.., to name a few.
Currently performing with the Musical Groups…Jasmine and Voice,Heart & Soul., in addition to playing many Sideman gigs around town.
Since November 2001 I’ve also played in the Orchestra for the renowned COGIC Church TEMPLE OF DELIVERANCE., under the guidance of Bishop G.E. PATTERSON.
