Astrid began singing at an early age, and although she could not have articulated it at the time, for Astrid the art of singing has always been the product of the art of listening.
Even as a youngster Astrid recalls keenly listening to family and friends and the music that frequented her home - mostly gospel, jazz and folk - in an era when portable music was on cassette and LP, not iPod!
Astrid is now an experienced vocalist whose distinct vocal talent and strong desire to offer her audience meaningful musical encounters has seen her perform at a wide range of gigs - from private functions to the community-based social justice events she has focussed on in recent years.
She is a recorded soloist on the Newcastle Conservatorium Chamber Choir album, a recording that led to her poignant performance of Amazing Grace at the closing of the BHP facility in Newcastle.
Along the way Astrid has involved herself in a number of musical theatre style stage shows, including a highlight experience as a member of the Sydney Youth Musical Theatre's 'Me and My Girl' chorus line.
In 2010 she co-wrote, produced and performed in a musical theatre production for Refresh Retreat, a women's conference held at Turners Vineyard in Bathurst, NSW.
As a vocal teacher for students of all ages with a wide range of interests, Astrid enjoys encouraging her students to grow in confidence and vocal technique.
Astrid's passion for collaborating with talented musicians, great lyrics and quality sound production is embodied in her debut album, Secret of Life.
