Sound Crew ability
Runner or Assistant ability
As part of my university course we were taught backstage work that is involved in theatre productions, this would include lighting, sound engineering, rigging, set construction, prompting and technical rehearsals. All this would culminate in us being the backstage crew for the 2nd years main productions and touring productions. I primarily focused on the sound aspect of this and would normally be the sound operator during performances, this included following the script in order to insure the right sounds cues were done during the performances.
I also did a little bit of paid sound work for a second years performance at Worcester University.
I have also done some work experience in which I worked as a member of the back stage crew at the Weymouth Pavilion, which included helping unload and load the vans and lorries of touring performances to the Pavilion, helping set up for the performances, gaffer taping down loose wires and I was also given the opportunity to be a follow spot operator.
