Dance styles
  • Bollywood

I have been dancing from a young age as I grew up in South Africa I was exposed to a variety such as Bollywood, African dance styles, Hip Hop and Tap Dance. When I moved to New Zealand, I stopped dancing, but I finally picked Hip Hop up again in 2018 with Carter Chan Dance school for a semester. In 2019, I decided to create my very own Bollywood dance group within my school that actively celebrated all South Asians, regardless if you were Indian or not. The choreography developed over time and we performed on multiple occasaions throughout the year, the biggest being the Auckland Diwali Festival. We also performed at multiple schools, Manukau Diwali and Christmas in the Park. We were in the Indian Weekender, Botany and Ormiston Times and Radio Tarana's facebook page. Here are some links to the work I did last year, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1lpDiWnGamA

Even though I am in university, I still wanted the opportunity to grow as a dancer. Anoshinie is someone I have looked up to as a dancer for years and due to COVID19 she created an online space for her old and new students.
