Casting under-18 members

On StarNow, you can find talent aged from 0-99 (and older!). If you’re looking for talent aged under 18, there are a few ways that you can help us keep our younger members safe.

Please be aware that minors should be accompanied by a parent or guardian to all auditions and castings.

Verification

To ensure the safety of members under 18, we also verify all Casting Professionals casting roles that require minors. If you are listing a role for a minor, here's what you need to do:

First, we ask that when you list your audition or job you include a detailed description of all roles, especially if minors are required. Please include how long the shoot will take and how long the minor(s) will be required for.

Once you’ve listed your role, we also ask you to email us a scanned copy or photo of your passport or driver’s licence, as well as a link to your company website or previous examples of your work (preferably work with minors).

We need this information before we can approve any roles for minors.

Working with minors

Please be aware that minors should be accompanied by a parent or guardian to all auditions and castings.

Check your local government website for guidelines on working with minors in your area. Different countries and regions have different laws around working with minors, which cover work hours, parental consent forms, supervision, and employment.

It’s your responsibility to ensure that you comply with any regional laws.

If you are licensed to work with minors or have done a background check (such as the Working With Children Check or equivalent), please let us know and we'll update our files.

More information

Some companies use a code of conduct or a child protection policy to set clear expectations around working with children. Here’s an example from the BBC.

We also offer safety tips for under-18 members about applying to castings and attending auditions.
