My father is a multi-instrumentalist and was very involved in the music business during the 60's/70's. Having been fortunate enough to inherit his musical genes, I won a scholarship to York Minster Song School where I held the position of Head Chorister at the age of 11 in 1980/81. I am privileged to have had Dr Francis Jackson as my Choir Master. This has given me a vast knowledge of music theory and the ability to sight read with ease. From York I then attended Guildford Royal Grammar School, again on a music scholarship. On leaving school I didn't attempt to make a career out of music although I did continue to practice. I first started to earn money on the piano in 1996 when I met my current girlfriend and she encouraged me to do some street entertainment with an upright piano. I did this for about 2 years; it was great for learning how to get and keep the attention of your audience. Through busking I was regularly booked to play at a variety of functions. Over the last 14 years I have been gigging solo and with my band locally, mainly at private functions throughout the south-west. I have my own recording studio at home, I sight read to a high standard and also improvise and always enjoy a good jam session. It is impossible to say this without sounding egotistical but I know my education, skills and talent are going to waste at present. I can be seen and heard at www.myspace.com/jasonbaxterspiano . If you need a top pianist for virtually anything, especially session work, try me, I know you'll be more than impressed! I can sing too, and I don't sound like Aled Jones!
