Jean-Pascal is originally from Montreal, Canada. He started his career as a child actor with the Montreal’s Children’s Theatre and as a boy soprano with Les Petits Chanteurs du Mont-Royal.
He has a Bmus from McGill University, a PGdip from the Vlaaderen Opera Studio and the Royal Northern College of Music, and has attended the Daniel Ferro and Chautauqua summer vocal programs.
He began his opera career as a baritone in the chorus of the Montreal Opera and Symphony Orchestra, where he sang his first comprimari roles.
He went on to sing Tarquinius in Belgium, Don Giovanni at the RNCM and Schaunard in Baz Luhrmann’s production of La Bohème on Broadway and in Los Angeles, where he received a Los Angeles Stage Alliance Ovation Award 2004.
Following his change to tenor, he chose to specialise in character roles and performed the roles of Monsieur Triquet in Eugene Onegin and Le petit Vieillard in L’Enfant et les Sortilèges at the Chautauqua festival.
He also performed the roles of Gastone in Traviata with the European Chamber Opera, Panatellas in La Périchole, Normanno in Lucia di Lamermoor and Aristée/Pluton in Orphée aux Enfers at the Baugé Opera.
Most recently, he created the role of The Rose Tree in John O’Brien’s new Opera The Nightingale and the Rose in collaboration with the Everyman Theatre Cork.
On the concert platform, Jean-Pascal is regularly a guest soloist with multiple British Choral Societies. He created the role of Hermes in Tim Benjamin’s Oratorio Herakles with the Todmorden Choral Society and the Leeds University, as well as the role of Sigismund in Barry Webb’s new opera Nepomuk.
Most recently, he sang the role of Don Basilio in the Cork Opera House’s Opera Concert Series 2019.
Jean-Pascal recently joined the artist roster of the Stephens Nicolson Artists Management.
