Short film for A-Level film studies coursework. The film is about a mother who’s daughter was murdered. At the start we see the mother going to visit the place where her daughter was killed to look at the tributes and to leave a picture down along side all the flowers and messages but she just can’t bring herself to do it. The film after this is set in an office as we follow the Mother’s everyday life. It’s in the office that we find out she works with her daughters ex-boyfriend which raises the tension in the film. Throughout the short film mother is grieving and can’t move on with her life but sees that the boyfriend is, triggering flashbacks of her daughter making her feel upset and angry with the him. Fragmented editing is then used for the day to show how her life isn’t right anymore without her daughter. A conversation at a bus stop is then used to help the audience understand how the two characters are feeling and give the audience a bit more context on who the boy is because at this point we have seen everything from the Mother’s perspective and don’t know much about him apart from he was the daughters boyfriend before she died. After the conversation it cuts to the weekend where the mother is going to visit the tributes again but this time with the boy (Jake). After their conversation she finally feels like she is ready to make the first steps in her life to move on. Therefore, with jakes help she is able to put the picture down this time.
Audition / Rehearsal / Production dates
Filming dates: 24th April- 5th May.
I want to be able to meet up with someone for the role to talk through it the week before.
For this role I would like someone who can easily look sad and have a blank face as the character feels lost after the death of her daughter.
Looks wise the only thing I would prefer you to have is brown hair and brown eyes to math the look of the daughter. However, this isn’t something you need to have for the role.
Females, aged 40 to 50 from Manchester, UK
