Rock Paper Scissors is a short romantic tragedy about machoism. In it, a naive boy must navigate the fickle world of sex to keep up with cultural expectations, or else fail to meet them. He confronts who he’s become and realises that sex is meaningless without love. Through a series of vignettes linked by a monologue about the titular game, Rock Paper Scissors provokes the audience to consider the consequences of casual sex, and takes them on a journey from innocent fun to karmic punishment.

This is a project that the team and I (the director) are very passionate about. Clearly, that has shown and we've been lucky enough to receive a small fund to produce the film to the best of our ability. We are currently undergoing our final round of casting and have turned to StarNow to scout for talent for our lead and supporting roles!

Have a look at the characters below, and if you think you have what it takes to bring fire to a role, apply within! Auditions are being held very soon, so act quick.

Successful applicants shall receive their audition materials promptly, so stay tuned.

George (Teenager/Young Adult)

Undergoes the main character arc of the film. He starts as a boy of little confidence, but becomes a man with too much. From embodiment of awkward and vulnerable but genuine, to the essence machismo, he’s a tragic character who must ultimately face himself.

Males, aged 18 to 25 from South Australia, Australia

Julia (Teenager/Young Adult)

Julia loves George. Adult Julia loves George a little while, but has her heart broken by him. She slowly accepts it, but quickly realises that she feels sorry for him. When he comes crawling back to her, she understands his sentiment but refuses to accept his olive branch. It’s a matter of too little, too late. She’s stronger than that.

Females, aged 18 to 25 from South Australia, Australia

George (Old)

Old George is sage man who imparts his wisdom on the audience and ultimately contextualises the lessons he learnt from his journey from love as a young man. He’s confident, and the kind of witty that only he thinks is funny. That said, he’s been on Earth for a long time now. He’s done things he’s not proud of and he remorsefully shares them with us. His words provide the comedy, but his silence is filled with regret.

Males, aged 65 and over from South Australia, Australia
