Actor Wanted for Leading Role in Short Film
The story centres on a pair of roommates, acting student Bláthnaid and dance teacher Elena, who spend a Friday night inside, as they struggle at crossroad points in their lives. Bláthnaid, in particular, is strung-out as she nears the end of her time studying acting -- her graduation date terrifies her, inching closer by the minute. But, as the night unfolds, Bláthnaid opens to Elena, expressing hopes, fears and dreams in an incredibly frank fashion, discussing everything from a painful experience in class to astrology to paranormal encounters, all the while dipping in and out of the Irish language.
Essentially, Bláthnaid is terrified of her future, while Elena is depressed by her past, but together will they grow?
Given the real-time tonal progression of this short film, it provides the actors with a worthwhile challenge to play with strikingly different emotional states in an effectively compressed time frame.
Moreover, with the short's sparse nature, scenes from it would make for powerful showreel material and could even work as isolated showcase scenes.
The production will be filmed in Dublin in June 2019, over approximately one day, with all expenses being covered.
If you are interested, please apply below. A scene extract will be forwarded to you and auditions will be carried out via self-tape.
The actor cast will receive an official credit on the film’s already-live IMDb page.
This job is unpaid
Expenses paid - Travel, food and any other expenses will be duly covered for all talent involved with the production.
An overgrown emo kid if there ever was one, Bláthnaid is in the throes of a quarter-life crisis, strung-out from her final year of acting school, but terrified about what happens after (or more accurately, what *mightn’t*). Ardent feminist. Horoscope junkie. Lover of all things spooky and macabre... And cats.
Over the course of the short, she displays a wide breadth of truthful emotion, which offers the actor cast a valuable opportunity to deepen their acting ability.
