'Ruby Flower Moon' Actors Wanted for Short Film
In the terminal stages of Motor Neuron Disease, Ruby, mid-40s to early-50s, is wheelchair-bound and partly paralysed. She develops a romantic relationship with her carer, Paul, mid-40s to early-50s. Despite the antagonism of her teenage daughter, who feels threatened, left out and rejected, love grows.
This is a romantic drama appealing to female audiences aged 35 – 60.
Audition / Rehearsal / Production datesAudition dates flexible. First audition Friday June 21, Lismore, NSW
We will work out something that suits everyone.
Some options could be:
A. Rehearsal on the weekend before filming (Sat/Sun August 3 and 4) OR
B. Rehearsal two weeks prior (Sat/Sun July 27 and 28) OR
C. Rehearse on Saturday two weeks prior ( July 27) and again on the following Saturday (Aug 3).
D. Rehearse on the Monday and Tuesday (Aug 5 and 6) prior to filming on Wed/Thurs/Fri Aug 7/8/9.
This job is unpaid - TAFE student production.
Expenses paid - Accommodation in local home (own room) and home-cooked meals. Can pick up and drop off from Lismore or Ballina airport. Transport to and from set provided.
Paul (male lead)
Paul – Ruby's carer; mid-40s to early-50s. Paul is of average height and weight. He is a funny, kind, caring and beautiful soul. Paul works for a local support service and is a paid carer. He has strong professional ethics, which make him doubt the wisdom of progressing a romantic relationship with Ruby, even though he is clearly attracted to her.
Males, aged 40 to 55
Jasmin (Ruby's daughter)
Jasmin – A funky, cool, intelligent smart-arse teenager with lots of attitude who is strongly opposed to her mother’s growing relationship with Paul. Jasmin feels more and more rejected and sidelined as Paul's influence increases. She doubts his motives and wants him gone from their lives.
