The Last Known Photograph of Joshua Kasabian and Odeya Greene is an experimental short film that details the mystery surrounding the disappearance of two lovers after they witness a rare cosmic event in the gravitational waves generated by two distant stars colliding in the darkness of space.

Though this story will provide no answers, it aims to explore this couple and their relationship with each other and their relationship with themselves as they navigate their hopes and fears and deepest insecurities, culminating in that defining point in every relationship, where a commitment must be made, or the time has come to go separate ways.

Because only one of two things can happen when stars collide - they either combine into a larger and far brighter star, or collapse into a black hole…

The film will quite experimental and more of a tone piece with a strong focus on creating a melancholic and dreamlike atmosphere viewed through the nostalgic lens of Super 8mm film.

We are looking to cast the lead character of Odeya Greene, who is described in the following passage:

“Though she knew nothing but the decaying sprawl of the city, she bore a fondness for the old folk songs born across the flat expanse of the country. She felt she shared a kindred spirit with those downhearted drovers and violent bushrangers, determined to find some sense of purpose in an unfamiliar land.

Like them, she carried in her the anguish of a life lived harder than most. She carried it in her eyes when she smiled without meaning it, she carried it in her shoulders as she coursed through her days staring at the sky in search of something more, but most of all she carried it in her heart, where it hung heaviest.

Perhaps this is why she became a dancer, to flow through spaces like she was really alive - a chance to speak with God in the way that she moved, or at the very least regain some semblance of control she thought she had since lost.”

The screenplay can be provided upon application or request.

While we can offer a little payment for this role, it is a self financed passion project with quite a low budget, but will hopefully be a great opportunity to work with passionate filmmakers in a highly collaborative environment in a space that is safe and respectful and open to experimentation.

If you would like any more information about this project please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Otherwise if you think you’d be a perfect fit for this project we’d love to hear from you!
