Very Experienced Director wanted for WW2 Period Film/Drama
The story is about a family torn apart during the Second World War. It is based on true events that happened to my family.
The universal message is War gets in the way of people’s lives. The innocent are caught up in the futility of War. Even though it is set against the background of The Second World War the story is just as relevant for today.
An idyllic life and a daily routine on a farm in the Yorkshire Dales is shattered by the outbreak of War. The young son Peter who dreamt of being the Soldier hero leaves to join the Army and his sister Katy goes to London to become a nurse. Leaving Ben the eldest son to do his duty on the farm with his Dad.
Peter's dream becomes harsh reality as he is immediately captured in action in Norway and spends the rest of the War as a POW. As for Katy she falls madly in love with Jack Richards a dashing American Airman but the fairy-tale romance is short lived as he is killed on a flying mission.
The audience follows Peter and Katy's journey simultaneously. They are drawn deeper and deeper into the family's struggle.
Katy returns to the farm to have Jack's baby only to find her Brother Ben has a German Luftwaffe pilot working on the farm with him alongside an Italian POW. She calls her brother a traitor.
In Germany Peter's life is worsening as his buddy Patrick is killed in an attempt to escape whilst working in the fields. He then is moved from Camp to camp building up more hatred for the Germans.
We return to the farm in Yorkshire to find that Katy and Hans the German Pow rescue co-workers from a barn fire. Hans nearly dies in the flames and Katy visits him in Hospital.
Gradually Katy and Hans become close and they find a mystical connection to the past that is revealed to the audience. There is an unbreakable bond between them. Dad also has this connection and during a revealing conversation with his wife we find he was the Soldier in the First World War who we saw on the German Farm at the beginning.
Peter returns after the War to find his sister engaged to a German. He confronts Hans and threatens him and Katy. Who can turn him around and make him forgive and love again.?
This is a gripping, romantic and mystical drama full of light and shade and unpredictable events.
It is a story that will appeal to all ages.
Visually striking and full of compelling characters.
