Applications are now invited from beautiful, passionate eco-warring young women across the country to enter the 2020 contest. Between now and August girls aged between 13 years and over who combine a love for the planet with beauty, poise and grace, are encouraged to enter their regional heats online. This ‘beauties for a cause’ competition, is a modern take on the traditional beauty contest as it adds an environmental awareness twist. Miss Earth is unique in terms of beauty pageants as it has a positive message of promoting environmental awareness across the globe.
StarNow official invites all members to apply NOW. Following this, successful applicants will be invited to a live selection process in the form of a fashion show culminating in the national grand final crowning ceremony on 9th August. With growing fears of climate change and global warming, Miss Earth is the beauty pageant for the new millennium. There is a practical message behind this reinvented concept of a beauty contest in which contestants must have a strong knowledge of their country’s culture and the environment in order to fulfil the ideals of this competition – that beauty queens be strong and effective advocates for Mother Earth. After the English eco-beauty is crowned she will join three other UK country winners to travel to the televised Miss Earth. During their time in the Philippines, the Miss Earth delegates are required to attend various environmental seminars and educate people on the three R’s (Reduce, Reuse and Recycle). The competition, which has contestants from over 90 countries, concludes with Miss Earth 2020 being crowned.
Stephanie Wyatt from England 2019 Winner, is a champion of all things green and believes this could be the year we finally change our eco-friendly ways. Stephanie is proud to say that the UK has a government with departments dedicated to environmental credentials. There are recycling facilities across the country, advertising campaigns to encourage a greener lifestyle, and the use of public transport is on the rise. A more recent example of this is the now prohibited sale of non-energy saving light bulbs. This just goes to show that work is continually taking place within the UK to ensure a greener future. For these reasons I can promote that the United Kingdom is keen to better their environmental prospects.
