Short Film

Pet Day is a short film that follows the friendship and horse riding adventures of two best friends; Britney and Chloe. One day Britney brings home a gift from her teacher that causes her step-dad to react in a way she is too innocent to understand.
This film is inspired by true and imagined experiences. The director's approach for this story is to shed light on the shared vulnerability of intergenerational trauma from a 12 year-olds perspective. This light hearted, kiwi humoured short will not leave you feeling heavy. We hope this story will ignite conversations in the audience around the systemic and cultural ideology towards masculine vulnerability as well as a curiosity towards our local communities and their practices.

Who are we looking for?
If you are a keen actor that thinks you have what it takes to play and strong and yet vulnerable 'Step-dad' then please apply.
We are shooting this short up in the Hokianga, about 5 hours out of Auckland. Our funding is limited so we are offering accomodation, transport and meals as well as a small Koha to all our crew and cast (the same rate for all).

This film will be screened in Auckland, the Hokianga and then later available to view everywhere online from September 2021. We are getting incredible interest from NZ media platforms (radio, magazines) and will be looking to start interviews and social media marketing on the campaign launch in mid-March.

Audition / Rehearsal / Production dates

Shooting between April 20-23rd in Hokianga with a travel day on either end.

Job payment

Unpaid – this is a collaboration opportunity

Expenses paid - Transport, accomodation and meals covered by production + koha for performance

Collaborations should create mutual benefit and are usually amateur, student or 'Time for Print' projects.
