COCA Productions is putting together its first show Love, Loss and What I Wore presented by the Butterfly Club later this year.
Come One, Come All Productions is a new Melbourne/Naarm based production company striving to create opportunities and art on an all-inclusive/diverse stage. Love, Loss and What I Wore by Nora and Delia Ephron will be COCA’s first show.
Adapted from Ilene Beckerman’s memoir of the same name, Love, Loss and What I Wore is a collection of monologues centred around clothing and the female experience, covering all the important subjects-mothers, dresses, mothers, buying bras, mothers, hating purses and why we only wear black. Typically performed with a cast of 5, artists will portray 30+ characters as they tell stories of pivotal moments in their lives, framed through the lens of the clothing they wore.
There are 30+ characters in this show and the creative team are looking for 5 (18+) artists of all races, ethnicities, abilities, neurodiversities, sexual orientations, gender diversities and body types to fill a multitude of roles. We are open to any interpretation of character and are committed to casting inclusively while creating a safe space for performers.
*Please note, the character of Gingy should be 35-40+
If called back for a role, artists will not be expected to be off book as they may be required to read for more than one character in the room, but we encourage them to be familiar with the material.
Please include the following:
• One monologue of choice which explores similar themes to the show.
• One monologue in the link provided above.
Please upload your submission to YouTube, Vimeo or Dropbox as an UNLISTED or PASSWORD PROTECTED video.
