PROJECT:

Mel's Dream is a short film in pre-production with award winning writer/director and crew members behind it.
The film mixes elements of drama, performance and surrealism genres together in one compelling narrative.

The film targets prestigious festivals such as Sundance and Cannes.
The length is roughly 15 minutes with 4 to 6 days of estimated shooting.

LOGLINE,

An Aspiring performer struggling with the receding relevancy of her art form loses her grip on reality as she prepares for an important audition.


ABOUT YOU,

The roles in this film require impeccable performance by actors who are skilled and confident. We need well experienced actors to give the project their best and beyond.

SELECTION PROCESS,

Upon shortlisting you'll be sent a copy of the script.

A casting call will be held to choose the final members for the cast.

PAYMENT,

The payment model for this project is deferred payment. Meaning a contract will be signed with each individual stating their paid rates

MEL

Our Protagonist.

Mel is a young woman in her 20's. She's a performer in the art of mime.
Her goal is to prepare for an upcoming audition that will determine the survival of her art form as the person who will be carrying the legacy of her teacher and mentor, JEWEL.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

Mel's role requires a minimum understanding of contemporary dance or ballet.
The successful applicant for this role needs to be approved by our choreographer for their dancing skills.

JEWEL WALKER

Jewel is a star performer of the past and Mel's mentor in the art of mime.
Although she's terminally sick, she's strong willed and is a beacon of hope and inspiration for Mel.

RODIN AUGUST

Rodin is the owner of the old Vinyl shop Mel works at.
He's kind, fatherly and supportive with a past rooted in arts although he's long abandoned it.

MICHAEL MARRON

Marron is an investor in the arts and performance industry. He's the person behind many big shows in the city and the person who is reopening the theater Mel will be auditioning at.

He is smart, experienced and pragmatic. He's an influential figure who's been turning the gears in the industry for years.
