DOP/Camera Op Wanted for Comedy-Horror Short
A woman wakes up in the woods to discover she has survived a car crash. Unable to call for help she pieces together what led her to this point through the carnage and bodies around her as she desperately strives to stay alive.
We are a small collection of film makers based in London who work in the creative industry as writers, producers and video editors for brands and commercials. This is our passion project which we are self funding with the aim to film early next year to enter the festival run in June.
We are looking for a talented DOP/Camera operator (preferably with their own kit) to film and help develop the visual style of this horror comedy short. We want the film to feel authentic and gritty, like the camera is just there capturing the events as they happen; Blue Ruin is a good example of the feel we’re looking for.
Going against usual horror tropes, we plan to film this in the stark light of day. Beginning with uncomfortable close ups to highlight the severity of the protagonist’s situation, the film’s visual language will develop to emphasise the isolation of the location and the characters.
The dialogue scenes will feel punchy and sharp, as these characters are used to fighting with their words. Conversely, the fight scenes should feel scrappy and dirty because Bruce Lee these people are not! Finally, we will be using match cuts to transition between the main location and flashbacks of the group leading up to the car crash.
Most importantly, we are looking for someone who is keen to collaborate and bring their own sense of style and composition to this film. If this sounds like you, please do get in touch.
