My first acting experience was the lead in a short film. (Patrons). However, as my acting skills substantially improved, I went on to perform in live Theatre, at The Princess Royal Theatre, Port Talbot... Playing the big principle role of 'Amos' in 'Whistle Down the wind', April 2013.
My next Musical performance was 'Half a Sixpence', in April 2014, where I played the principle role of 'Pearce'.
Back in January 2014,
However, my best achievement to date would be my role in 'The Witches of Eastwick' (February 2015) Where I played the lead role of Darryl Van Horne, receiving exceptional reviews. As below,
Darryl Van Horne! Steven Paul McCarthy played this part very well and there was a little hint of the Jack Nicholson about him, but he also brought his own twist to the character. His comic timing was lovely as was his command of the stage. (Noda.)
I was not familiar with the story and deliberately did not Google it .When Steven swaggered on stage (Darryl) I half expected him to shout `Here's Johnny'. I did not know until later on the way home in the car with friends that Jack Nicholson had played the original role. That is truly testament to great acting. ( Love Neath theatre, review by Joy King.)
Recently I have played King Arthur in Monty Python Spamalot, who many believe surpassed my previous role.
Video footage of most of my performances are available opon request.
